How to Supercharge your Self Belief System
NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) is described by Richard Bandler, its co creator, as simply “an instruction or owners manual for the mind”. If your mind is telling you stuff which holds you back from enjoying your best life, try this simple NLP technique for outstanding results!
I always believed that I was rubbish at gymnastics, particularly jumping. I get that this isn’t life changing, but it’s still a real block to my confidence and self belief, when it comes to keeping fit in a class of millennials.
Since becoming an NLP practitioner, I have mastered so much more of my mindset than ever before. The ‘jumping’ thing seemed to hang around though! For jumping, you can insert an infinite number of mindset blocks.
- I am not successful enough
- My body isn't great
- I can't form a rewarding relationship
- I don't earn as much money as I'd like
- I can't make presentations, speak in public
Where did these beliefs come from and what purpose do they serve? DO YOU WANT TO KEEP THEM OR GET RID OF THEM?

How to Supercharge your Self Belief System
Jot down the following:
- Identify what you see as blocking your preferred way of being, doing or having something.
- What is going on inside your head and how does it make you feel?
- What evidence have you gathered to support your block? (Spoiler alert, you will have loads!)
- How does your self talk sound when you play it back?
- What benefits are there to holding onto your block?
- What are the benefits to letting go of it?
It is time to open your personal owners manual for the mind and get to work!
Revisit your Data Storage (crap stuff first!)
- You are probably basing your current thoughts about yourself on out of date information. If your initial confidence kicker was drilled into your head as a kid, what is it doing there now?
- Associate into that confidence kicker once more and consider all that was relevant then.
- Bring that forward to now and associate into how ridiculous it would be for you to be stuck in the rest of the picture you’ve built!
- Note the self-talk you’re using when you think about your block.
The good stuff comes next!
- When was your amazing time? That time when the stars collided and you felt absolutely the best?
- Recall in detail all of those lovely sights, sounds and feelings.
- Tastes and smells can be really evocative too!
- Don’t skimp on this bit, it forms a HUGE but previously neglected part of the information in your owner's manual.
- What are you going to do with all of this incredible stuff?
